Old Dads Movie Plot

Three close pals (Bill Burr, Bobby Cannavale, and Bokeem Woodbine) become dads at a later stage in life and discover they’re up against preschool principals, millennial CEOs, and everything that came into existence after 1987.

Jack Kelly, Connor Brody, and Mike Richards are old friends who are having a tough time adapting to the modern world and its rules. For example, when Connor tries to get his son Colin to say sorry for hitting someone, his wife Cara scolds him.

They decide to sell their business, Trifecta, to some young people, but they keep working there. However, the new boss, Aspen, fires everyone over 35 except them. Trifecta is changing, becoming more modern, and environmentally friendly.

Jack gets in trouble for being a little late to pick up his son from school. His wife Leah makes him apologize, and she says he has a problem with anger.

When Jack and Leah go to say sorry to the school director, they have to do it in front of other parents and kids. Some people point out what they didn’t like about Jack’s behavior, and he says sorry for each thing. Leah tells him he has to be on his best behavior for the next three months so the director will recommend their son Nate.

Mike, who is divorced and has two grown-up sons, comes home to a surprise. His girlfriend Britney is pregnant, even though he thought he couldn’t have more kids. When the three friends meet at a bar, Jack and Connor try to cheer Mike up.

Jack is asked to organize a school fundraiser, but he and Connor feel left out by the younger people at Trifecta. Then, they are sent to find a guy named Ed Cameron, who has been living off the grid since the 1980s, to represent their company.

A young employee named Travis goes with them and calls the old friends “misogynistic” during their banter. Mike tells Travis he’s not always politically correct either. When they hit an armadillo, Ed comes to pick it up.

Leah meets Cara, and Cara’s son Colin hits Leah’s pregnant stomach. When Leah warns Colin, he hits her again. Cara defends him, and they argue. At Trifecta, they all get fired because a hidden camera caught their inappropriate conversation. Even Travis gets fired because a camera caught him singing strong rap lyrics.

Afterward, Mike cuts ties with Jack, Connor can’t talk to them because Cara is angry, so Jack focuses on the school fundraiser. Everything goes well until he loses his temper again, and Leah kicks him out.

Jack and Mike meet at a late-night restaurant, make up, and pick up Connor for a bachelor party road trip because Britney wants to get married. They run into Aspen, who got fired for using the wrong words and got dumped. Later, at a strip club, Jack gets a call that Leah is in labor. They get an Uber, but it’s too slow, so they grab small electric scooters to get there.

They miss the birth, but Jack makes up with Leah and promises to go to therapy. In the end, they decide to send their son Nate to public school, and Jack learns to control his temper. Mike proposes to Britney, and Connor gets Cara to lighten up.
