When Carl was a kid, he looked up to an explorer named Charles Muntz. But Muntz lost his reputation when people thought the bird he brought back from South America was a fake. Carl grew up, got married to Ellie, and they dreamed of going to the same place Muntz had gone. But life got in the way, and they couldn’t go.

After Ellie passed away, Carl lived alone. But when he had to leave his home, he used thousands of balloons to take it to the place they always wanted to visit. A young scout named Russell accidentally joined the adventure.

They landed near Paradise Falls and met a big bird, a talking dog, and even Muntz, who had been searching for the bird for years. But Muntz was not a good person. He tried to hurt them and take the bird.

In the end, Carl decided to save his home, and Russell set out to rescue the bird. They had some dangerous adventures, but in the end, they made it back home and kept their promise to Ellie.
